NFC & UHF

NFC or UHF? Why safe product processes often need both

NFC and UHF are not direct competitors. NFC is suitable for conscious close-range contact and safe individual testing. UHF is designed for range, speed and the simultaneous detection of many units.

01

NFC: conscious contact with the individual product

A smartphone or reader is directed specifically to the label. This is suitable for authenticity testing, service, product information and digital nameplate. With NTAG 424 DNA, this contact can be cryptographically secured.

02

UHF: Capture many products in the process

UHF readers can read multiple tags without visual contact. Typical places of use are incoming goods, warehouse, packaging line, gate or pallet. The achievable reading quality depends on the antenna, material, position and environment.

03

An identity instead of two data islands

VeriSeal assigns NFC ID, UHF EPC, QR, barcode and serial number to the same product object. As a result, mass events from logistics and the targeted authenticity check on the individual product can be combined.

  • NFC for Authentication and Detail View
  • UHF for inventory and material flow
  • QR and barcode as visible fallback level
  • ERP and EPCIS as a common process connection

The selection is measured in the pilot

Before the series, reader, label position, packaging material, range and exceptional cases should be tested under real conditions. VeriSeal not only documents hits, but also error and rework processes.
